UPC: From Manufacturing Leadership to Sustainability

As net-zero commitments accelerate worldwide and sustainability regulations continue to tighten, the chemical industry is undergoing rapid transformation. UPC Technology Corporation (UPC), a global leader in plasticizers, is advancing a sustainability-led strategy anchored in technology development and green products.

Advancing Low-Carbon Innovation Through the MOEA Platform and Supply-Chain Collaboration

To accelerate low-carbon transition and product innovation, UPC has partnered with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) to develop low-carbon green plasticizer material technologies, supported by programs under Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) Industrial Development Administration. Through a “1+5” collaboration model, UPC leads R&D and process design while working with five downstream partners on application and processing development—accelerating validation, commercialization, and supply-chain integration.

Upcycling Recycled PET into High-Value, Low-Carbon Products

UPC is investing in circular-material technologies to upgrade post-consumer PET (including bottles and used textiles) into high-quality chemical feedstocks for reuse in plastics manufacturing. By combining chemical depolymerization, transesterification, and hydrogenation, UPC has developed low-carbon, high-purity, low-color rDOTP and rDINCD. These green plasticizers support a wide range of applications, including medical, packaging, consumer goods, and wire-and-cable products, helping customers strengthen sustainability performance.

UPC believes sustainability progress depends on scalable collaboration. By expanding the “1+5” model across the value chain, UPC aims to amplify carbon-reduction impact, strengthen industry resilience, and create new growth opportunities in a low-carbon economy.
